Sheep Mountain

A steep trail, Sheep Mountain is not for the faint of heart! Open year-round, Sheep Mountain is open for hiking but also mountain biking, horseback riding, and for your furry companions! If you are looking to spot Elk and other wildlife there is a wildlife trail, but it is closed from January 1st through April 30th to protect elk’s winter range.

In total there are three trails combing for nearly 14 miles giving you plenty of great Cody, Wyoming to see, smell, and hear!

Bridal Veil Falls

A moderate challenge, Bridal Veil Falls is found in the Shoshone National Forest. It will take you around two hours to complete this 3.9-mile out and back trail. While it is popular, you can often get lucky and find little to no company besides those in your party and the birds around you!

The hike ends at the basin of Bridal Veil Falls, but there is little shade during the hike so be prepared to bring water, sunscreen, and a nice hat to keep you cool while you walk!

Twin Lakes Trail

This 3.2-mile trail is located just off Beartooth Highway in the Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area. Twin Lakes Trail is considered moderately difficult and takes an average of 1h 30m to complete. Walking around Twin Lakes is so much fun because of the diversity in fauna and flora. Birdwatchers will love this trail during the summer!

Island and Night Lakes

If you are looking for an easier, looping trail with beautiful scenery, try the Island and Night Lakes trail. The 3.94-mile trail takes you around Island and Night Lakes. The lakes are a natural home to local wildlife that can include bears! Island Joining the two lakes is Little Bear Creek which you will walk alongside on the trail.
