3 Of Our Favorite Horseback Riding Outfitters
Boulder Basin Outfitters
The pack trips that Boulder Basin Outfitters offers are unlike any normal “horseback tour” that you will find elsewhere. Immerse yourself in nature when you spend 2-10 days on the trail. Pack trips are the closest thing you can have to living like Buffalo Bill did in the good old days. You will ride an average of 4-5 hours per day for 10-15 miles and make camp with modern luxuries such as a solar shower and latrine.
Things to Know: The pack trip is a big commitment, but Boulder Basin also offers day rides if you really like the outfitter and can’t commit to the more grueling experience.
307 Outfitters
Not your average outfitter, 307 Outfitters offers day trips, Summer Pack Trips, and big game hunting trips. Much like Boulder Basin, explore Wyoming by horseback and encounter wild animals such as grizzly bears, elks, and big horn sheep on specific trips in the Wyoming countryside.
Things to Know: A wildlife trip is best experienced with a small group of friends/family. If you are up for an adventure, try a progressive trip where the base camp changes nightly.
Cedar Mountain Trail Rides
Found in downtown Cody, Wyoming, Cedar Mountain Trail Rides are a great way to casually experience horseback riding in Northwest Wyoming. The owner of Cedar Mountain can best be described as, “eccentric” but the experience and views are everything!
Things to Know: You can find a phone number online, but you will not find a website advertising Cedar Mountain Trail Rides. Bring cash for the ride ($35/ hour) and it is first come first serve. The trail can be steep at times, but it is safe for all ages just bring a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated.
